September 29: Preach and Pray to Confront Christian Nationalism

This election season, we as Christians must stand for kindness, joy, peace, and love -- while also confronting the dangerous distortion of our faith called Christian nationalism.

Christian nationalism is a political ideology and cultural framework that claims America was founded to be a "Christian nation" where Christians should receive special legal treatment not available to non-Christians. It poses the biggest threat to both democracy and the church today.

As we near the heart of the election season -- and as the religious right twists and weaponizes Christianity to win votes -- Faithful America is launching a sermon and prayer drive against Christian nationalism. On Sunday, September 29, hundreds of Christian preachers across the country will take a stand against the hijacking of our faith.

Together, we will reject hatred, political violence, Christofascism, and the hijacking of Jesus's name for partisan politics -- and in their place take a prophetic, Christ-like stance for peace, joy, equality, and love.

Take the pledge to Preach or Pray against Christian nationalism during your church's services on September 29 below now, and Faithful America will send you helpful liturgical and lectionary resources to aid you in this work!
