The very first openly transgender member of Congress has been officially sworn in! Can you take a second to sign our Christian card of congratulations and welcome to Rep. Sarah McBride?
While many of the results of November's election were deeply disappointing and scary, Rep. McBride's victory made history in the best possible way -- adding an essential voice that was missing in the halls of power.
As Sarah said when she first served in the Delaware state Senate, "For years, trans people have had to go before anti-trans lawmakers in the big chair. Today, anti-trans forces had to come before a trans person in the big chair."
And it's not just her identity that is worth celebrating. As a state legislator, Rep. McBride led the fight for paid family and medical leave, gun safety, and expanding health care access -- policies that reflect Christian values like loving our neighbors and providing for those in need.
Let's send a clear Christian message that we celebrate Rep. McBride and her work.
