Donald Trump's religious advisor and favorite pastor just appeared on Fox News to dismiss climate change as "an imaginary problem." Robert Jeffress went on to praise Trump for skipping this week's UN climate change summit.
The science is settled: The planet is warming fast, and it's because of human actions. This is a moral crisis with severe ramifications for poverty, racism, jobs, and immigration -- everything the Gospel calls us to fight for.
Scientists say we still have 12 years to take action and avoid the worst damage to God's creation. For that to happen, Christians need to stand up to religious-right leaders who prop Trump up and keep him in power while he guts even more of the environmental laws we need to protect God's creation.
That begins with condemning Jeffress' latest cable-news rant, showing the media that neither Jeffress nor Trump speak for our faith.
