During his campaign, President Biden promised that his immigration policies would represent a clear break from the white-supremacist regime of his predecessor -- but sadly, this is one promise Biden hasn't kept yet.
The new administration is demanding that courts give it the right to keep using Title 42 -- originally intended as a public-health law -- as a legal excuse to lock down the border and turn away Haitian asylum-seekers and others in need without due process, just like Donald Trump.
As if viral images of Border Patrol agents on horseback violently rounding up asylum-seekers weren't bad enough, the people of Haiti have been through so much. Earthquakes, tropical storms, and political turmoil have devastated the country. These children of God are turning to us for refuge and hope -- making it even more immoral to forcibly return them to unsafe conditions.
Christians love our neighbors and respect their dignity, no matter where they come from. That's why more than 200 faith organizations, including 164 groups from President Biden's own Catholic Church, have called on this administration to stop the deportations.
Let's send the President 10,000 signatures to show that these faith groups are speaking for a nationwide movement that supports Black immigrants and refugees!
