This weekend, Pope Francis is being laid to rest in Rome -- and people all around the world are both mourning his passing and reflecting on his tremendous legacy.
Pope Francis wasn't perfect. But he did more than any religious leader in recent history to uplift the kind of courageous, progressive Christianity that takes loving all of our neighbors seriously.
At a time when too much of the world is turning to greed, selfishness, and even cruelty, Pope Francis continually reminded us through his words and actions that walking in Jesus's footsteps means washing the feet of prisoners, making a home for migrants, and valuing all God's children in everything that we do.
In the coming days and weeks, there will be plenty of back and forth about the future of the church Pope Francis leaves behind. At this pivotal moment for the Catholic Church and Christianity more broadly, let's take a moment to honor the ways he changed our faith and our world for the better.
