Talk about Christian nationalism in action: The Texas Board of Education is considering paying school districts to teach Bible stories in public schools.
The Texas Board of Education is holding hearings over whether to implement a new curriculum for elementary school English and Language Arts classes that poses conservative Christian theology as fact and uses Biblical stories to teach academic concepts.
And proponents want to maximize participation by offering districts $60 per student to switch to this Christian-nationalist curriculum.
Forcing Christianity on others doesn't spread our faith -- it corrupts it. Local Christians organized by our friends at Christians Against Christian Nationalism and other faith-based organizations in Texas are already pushing back, gathering thousands of comments against the implementation of the new curriculum.
Let's support those fighting Christian nationalism in Texas now by lifting our voices and making it clear to the Texas Board of Education that Christians across the country reject this theocratic move.
