There is nothing Christ-like about the violent, "Christian" website GiveSendGo, which has become the go-to crowdfunding source for white nationalists -- even helping fund the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol in Jesus's name.
GiveSendGo calls itself "The Leader in Christian Fundraising." Yet more than five months after helping militia members raise money to travel to the failed coup, the site remains full of fundraisers for anti-vaccine conspiracy theories, Trump's Big Lie against democracy, and opposition to Black Lives Matter, all an affront to the Gospel.
GiveSendGo first gained notoriety last year after raising $500,000 for Kyle Rittenhouse, a right-wing vigilante who murdered two Black Lives Matter protesters.
It has also brought in fortunes for Enrique Tarrio, chairman of the violent alt-right Proud Boys, and Fr. James Altman (pictured above), the notorious priest known for partisan bullying, anti-vaccine sermons, and smearing Black Lives Matter.
It's time to appeal directly to the majority of GiveSendGo's Christian customers, who use the site to fundraise for church programs without realizing what else they're propping up. We're calling on Pastor J. D. Greear, president of the Southern Baptist Convention, to tell SBC churches to reject the dangers of GiveSendGo and take their crowdfunding needs elsewhere.
