Tell TikTokChristians want you to stand up to OAN

Posted: April 6, 2023

If you, your children, or your grandchildren are among the millions of Americans who spend time on TikTok, you may have seen a series of popular, professional-looking news videos that sometimes contain a dose of far-right politics -- and even outright conspiracy theories.

What you might not know -- because the anchors deliberately hide it -- is that those videos are a product of one of the worst MAGA outlets in the county: One America News (OAN).

OAN is not a legitimate news network. It's a dishonest, authoritarian organization that masquerades as journalism while propping up Christian-nationalist election denial and anti-LGBTQ hatred. And now that both DirecTV and Verizon have dropped OAN, the network is desperate to find new viewers to indoctrinate.

That's why two OAN anchors have turned to TikTok. Stella Escobedo and Alicia Summers have been posting TikTok videos featuring misinformation about COVID-19, lies about mail-in voting, and support for far-right, anti-trans grifters "Gays Against Groomers" -- all while trying to hide the fact that they work for OAN.

TikTok's community guidelines state that the company will "remove misinformation that causes significant harm to individuals, our community, or the larger public regardless of intent." Let's show TikTok that a growing movement of grassroots Christians wants the company to enforce these guidelines and stop spreading OAN's misinformation and Christian nationalism now.
