As Christians, we know that budgets are moral documents. And the budget reconciliation bill currently making its way through Congress says dire things about what the Trump regime values -- and who it is willing to leave behind.
Trump's proposed budget turns Biblical values upside down. It rewards the wealthiest Americans with tax cuts while brutalizing the most vulnerable with massive cuts to critical social programs. If it passes, millions of Americans will suffer as a result.
But here's the important news: This cruel budget is NOT a done deal.
It took multiple contentious votes in the House of Representatives to move the bill forward along partisan lines. Now, the margin of error in the Senate is razor thin -- if only a few Republicans choose the needs of their constituents over the demands of greedy billionaires, this atrocity can be defeated.
If we're going to sway key votes in the Senate, we must make it clear that people of faith are united against these harmful cuts. That's why Faithful America is working with Sojourners and other faith-based organizations to gather the signatures of tens of thousands of Christians and deliver them to Congress in person.
