Exciting news: Jimmy Kimmel is back on the air! But the fight for our right to speak holy truth to power is just getting started.
Grassroots organizing against fascism won an important victory this week. After ABC-Disney bent the knee to Donald Trump and pulled Jimmy Kimmel's show off the air, so many people cancelled their Disney+ subscriptions that the website crashed. On Sunday, protests erupted outside ABC affiliates across the country.
Because of this swift and clever organizing, ABC-Disney lost more than $4 billion in value in less than a week -- and they immediately announced that they were returning Kimmel's show to the air.
While ABC has backed down, two far-right media conglomerates -- Sinclair Broadcasting and Nexstar Media -- are still blocking Kimmel’s show from being seen out of deference to Donald Trump.
This collaboration between a Christofascist regime and greedy corporations is a direct threat to our right as social-justice Christians to speak up about our values and publicly oppose both Christian nationalism and fascism. But the organizing against ABC has already shown us that when we take action together, we have the power to win.
