On January 6, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) helped lead the right-wing effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election, voting to throw out the ballots of predominantly Black and Brown voters -- thus joining Trump, Ted Cruz, Franklin Graham, and others in inciting the attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Publisher Simon & Schuster immediately dropped Hawley's book deal, one of the few consequences he's faced so far. Almost immediately, Regnery Publishing announced they would publish Hawley's upcoming book instead.
Regnery -- which is owned by Salem Media Group, a "Christian" company -- is also releasing a new memoir from Christian author and radio host Eric Metaxas. On December 9, Metaxas told listeners, "We need to fight to the death, to the last drop of blood, because [overturning the election is] worth it." He also emceed a dangerous "Jericho March: Stop the Steal" rally just weeks before the failed coup.
Regnery needs to hear from Christians who are appalled by the terrorism that Hawley and Metaxas helped incite with their election lies. There is nothing Christian about giving a private platform to those who attacked the God-given dignity of the voters -- or who spread white nationalism in Jesus's name.
