Speaker Mike Johnson is making headlines for siding with bigoted members of his caucus who are wasting our tax dollars on a culture war against Sarah McBride (the first openly transgender person elected to Congress).
As Rep.-Elect McBride has pointed out in her response, these attacks are an "effort to distract from the real issues facing this country."
Speaker Johnson is trying to defend his actions by claiming they are based on his faith as a Christian. But discriminating against our transgender neighbors is NOT Christian. And even if it was, we are not a theocracy -- Speaker Johnson should be making decisions based on the Constitution, not the Bible.
As fellow Christians, we have a unique duty to point out Speaker Johnson's hypocrisy and call on him to do the work Americans actually care about -- not wage MAGA culture wars against our elected representatives. Add your name to our petition to him.
