After raising the alarm about the climate crisis, teenage activist Greta Thunberg is facing cruel personal attacks from the Christian right.
On Twitter, religious-right author Dinesh D'Souza compared Thunberg's U.N. speech to Nazi propaganda.
New Jersey priest Peter West shared a video from the conservative organization CatholicVote and wrote, "Greta Thunberg is a victim of child abuse. Climate change alarmists have filled her with fear and rage." His fellow priest and author Dwight Longenecker went even further, mocking Thunberg's name and appearance.
Trump religious advisor Robert Jeffress told Fox News, "Somebody needs to read poor Greta Genesis, Chapter 9, and tell her the next time she worries about global warming, just look at a rainbow. That's God's promise that the polar ice caps aren't going to melt." (Humans are flooding the world this time, not God.)
There is no excuse for attacking a teenager. Christians should be fighting to protect God's creation -- not mocking a courageous child for speaking out about her future.
