Add your nameStand with lesbian Catholic coach fired for starting a petition

After her family's Catholic priest made homophobic and potentially racist remarks, Ashlie Langlinais started a petition for his removal from her Louisiana hometown church -- and was promptly fired from her job coaching girls' basketball at a Catholic high school in Austin, TX.

Ashlie is in a loving, same-sex marriage, something many Catholic teachers have been fired for. Whether she was terminated for her petition supporting equality or for her own marriage, Jesus never punished anyone for demanding a welcoming church -- or for whom they loved.

Ashlie won't be intimidated. She just faced down dozens of protesters to deliver 12,000 Faithful America signatures to the Diocese of Lafayette calling for the Louisiana priest's removal, and now she's asking the Diocese of Austin to stop the unjust firings and model Christ's love.

"This isn't about me. I want my students to see that you always stand up to injustice," says Ashlie. "We need the Church to show the same love, dignity, and compassion that Jesus taught, regardless of race or sexual orientation."

Add your name to join Ashlie, plus the Catholic students and parents standing with her: Austin Bishop Vásquez must stop the unjust firings and allow students to start an LGBTQ affinity group!
