Tell your senatorsNo Supreme Court confirmation until Congress passes COVID-19 relief

Posted: Oct. 13, 2020

Senate hearings for Donald Trump's dangerous Supreme Court nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, are officially under way, and a committee vote could come as soon as October 22. The mere existence of these hearings is a corrupt charade of historic proportions.

We need to show our lawmakers that Christians want a government that supports justice, dignity, and equal rights for all -- not hypocrisy and cruelty.

Republican senators are holding these hearings despite (or more likely because of) the cruel threats that Barrett poses to immigrants, LGBTQ rights, democracy, and affordable health care... despite their now-broken promise to never consider a nominee during a presidential election... and despite the fact that it's been more than 200 days since the Senate passed any COVID-19 relief for the American people.

It's not just ironic to take away health care while refusing to offer pandemic relief -- it's flat-out immoral. With Trump's religious-right allies spreading the lie that Barrett is the clear Christian choice, it's vital that progressive Christians raise our voices in dissent today. Tell the Senate: We don't need a Justice Barrett, we need COVID-19 relief!
