The people defeated Donald Trump, and he will leave office on January 21 -- but most of his allies and enablers will get to keep their seats in Congress. Fortunately, we have one more chance this election season to send the hateful Trump agenda packing.
Without a thorough, national repudiation of white supremacy, Christian nationalism, and the religious right, the work of social-justice Christians is far from over. That's why faith leaders must speak up now, as Georgia voters prepare to determine control of the U.S. Senate with two runoff elections on January 5.
The Rev. Dr. Raphael Warnock is the prophetic senior pastor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Ebenezer Baptist Church. Jon Ossoff is a progressive change maker and the Jewish son of an immigrant. Both men were close to civil-rights leader Rep. John Lewis.
Another term for right-wing senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue means more Trump-like lies and discrimination. That's why we're working with the progressive New Moral Majority to show that the right does not have a monopoly on religion, and that faith leaders across the country support Ossoff and Rev. Warnock -- two candidates who can help implement a true social-justice vision.
