CatholicVote -- a far-right organization known for its past work with Steve Bannon -- just launched a cruel and misleading anti-LGBTQ television ad in swing states in order to smear Vice President Kamala Harris.
CatholicVote's dishonest, hateful ad makes outright false assertions about medical care for trans children and describes gender-affirming care as "disgusting." The spot is meant to help elect Donald Trump -- and trans children will suffer as a result.
As Christians, we know that all people, including all queer and trans youth, are made in the holy image of God. We also know that fear mongering like CatholicVote's can result in real world violence and higher youth suicide rates.
The good news is that trans acceptance is spreading. To give just one of many encouraging examples, Brother Christian Matson came out earlier this year as the first openly trans person in a Roman Catholic vocation, and was welcomed by Lexington (KY) Bishop John Stowe.
Let's speak out with Christ-like love today, and show the trans community that a nationwide movement of Catholics and other Christians do not align with CatholicVote or its views!
