The Republican-controlled House just obeyed Donald Trump and passed a budget resolution that could cut Medicaid by $880 billion dollars.

This news is grim, but this budget is NOT a done deal. The Senate still has to pass its own budget resolution. Then, both houses of Congress need to reach an agreement. And some senators are already expressing concerns about these cuts.

Let's make it clear that Christians expect the Senate to do the right thing, protect the 72 million Americans who depend on Medicaid, and vote NO on Trump's budget proposal.

Dear Senators,

As a Christian, I am appalled to learn that Congress is considering passing a budget resolution that strips hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicaid in order to ramp up racist deportations and cut taxes for the wealthy.

It's wrong to take something as critical as health care away from millions of people just to satisfy a few individuals who have more money than they could spend in a lifetime. Tens of millions of Americans will suffer if this budget advances -- from deprivation of medical care, from the burden of unreasonable medical debt, and from economic repercussions that could close hospitals and clinics in at-risk urban and rural areas.

As a constituent who votes their values, I urge you to vote no on any budget resolution that cuts Medicaid.
