Decimated clean water and climate change programs. Drastic cuts to food assistance for women, infants, and children. Dwindling job training opportunities. That's the reality that Americans will face if MAGA Republicans in the House get the budget they're proposing.

Congress is currently working on an important budget agreement, which must pass to avoid a devastating government shutdown on September 30.

Budgets are moral documents, which means that this is a chance for our government to provide much-needed funding for the common good -- but some on the far-right see it as an opportunity to force painful, immoral, unnecessary cuts to services that millions depend on.

Many of the right-wing politicians fighting for these cuts built their careers on religious rhetoric -- but we know that Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me."

Christians cannot stand quietly by while Republican politicians force children to go hungry, let our water become undrinkable, or close doors to asylum seekers. That's why we're organizing with our friends at Catholics for Common Good to show our representatives in Washington that Christians want them to pass a moral budget that works for everyone.

Dear Representative,

As a member of the Christian organization Faithful America and as resident of your Congressional district, I am deeply concerned about media reports regarding House Republicans plans for the Federal Budget.

Of particular concern to me and other Christians of good conscience are the House Republican proposals to decimate Food and Nutrition for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC); education and job training funding; justice programs and support for the vulnerable; programs designed to impact climate change and protect clean water; and opportunities for immigrants.

Faithful America and Catholics Vote Common Good are working together to urge all lawmakers not to take any actions that would allow children to go hungry, our water to become undrinkable, workers and low-income Americans to suffer, or those seeking asylum to lack opportunities. Budgets are moral documents, and I ask that you remember the least amongst us when you are negotiating and voting on our next Federal Budget.
