Just when our democracy needs an independent judiciary more than ever, the Supreme Court's corruption crisis has reached a fever pitch -- in part due to wealthy religious-right donors and activists lavishing unreported gifts on Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.
Thankfully, there's something we can do about it.
Earlier this month, 20 U.S. Representatives -- led by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York -- introduced articles of impeachment against Justices Thomas and Alito.
The impeachment resolutions address Thomas and Alito's failure to recuse themselves from cases related to the Christian-nationalist insurrection of January. Thomas’s spouse Ginni Thomas was involved in efforts to overturn the 2020 election, and the Alito home flew flags explicitly supporting the insurrection and white Christian nationalism.
Faithful America members like you have made headlines calling for Supreme Court reform, Senate investigations, Thomas's recusal, and Alito's resignation. As our democracy crisis deepens, it's time for Christians who believe deeply in justice to urge our members of Congress to cosponsor the articles of impeachment.
