The Senate is closing in on passing a 2025 budget bill that cuts Medicaid, SNAP, and other assistance programs by billions of dollars, all to continue funding inhumane deportations of immigrants and citizens alike and to give Trump's billionaire buddies more tax breaks.
Over 17,000 Faithful America members have already emailed their Senators to protest this horrendous budget. Still, the Republican-led Senate shows no sign of listening to the voices of their constituents.
So on Monday, April 28th, the Rev. Dr. William Barber led a Moral Monday rally at the Capitol to challenge this budget and to publicly pray in the Rotunda for mercy for the poor and working class families who would be most impacted by it.
Then, in an unprecedented move, the Capitol Police cleared out the press so they could arrest Rev. Barber and two others in private.
Rev. Barber knew the risks -- and he also knows that walking the way of Christ will often lead us into "good trouble." That is why social justice Christians everywhere must support those who show us the way.
