Tell PoliticoDon't let the religious right silence your reporters

Two major religious-right groups are attacking Politico for simply reporting the facts about white Christian nationalism, lashing out at one of its investigative journalists -- a woman -- for exposing their plans to "infuse Christian nationalist ideas" into the government if Donald Trump wins the presidency.

After Politico reporter Heidi Przybyla appeared on MSNBC to discuss her recent piece documenting the ways that a second Trump administration would prioritize Christian nationalism, Tony Perkins' Family Research Council (FRC) and Catholic Vote sent a misleading, politically motivated letter to Politico editors demanding an apology for "smearing of the Christian faith."

They didn't stop there. FRC -- listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center -- also drove mobile billboards in front of Politico's office accusing it of "demonizing Christian voters."

Here's why this matters: FRC and Catholic Vote are conflating Christian nationalism with Christianity because they know most Americans, and most Christians, oppose their hateful ideology. They're pretending to speak for all Christian voters in order to scare the press away from reporting the truth -- and we can't let them.

It's vital that Politico hears from us now, so that it doesn't overestimate FRC's influence among Christian readers and cave to an agenda of disinformation.
