Tell Cardinal Joseph TobinApologize for destroying student's Pride mural

A New Jersey Catholic parish just painted over a high-school student's Pride mural, calling it "obscene."

16-year-old Breanna's mural featured a rainbow heart and interlocking male hands. "I'm heartbroken," she tweeted. "Please help."

Bergen Arts & Science Charter School is a public school, but it rents its space from Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. Instead of acting as an unbiased landlord, the parish distorted the Gospel's core message of love and sent a terrible message to the students.

Rainbows are never obscene -- not when God put one above Noah's ark, and not when they're used to celebrate love during Pride.

The Archbishop of Newark, Cardinal Joseph Tobin, is usually one of the most LGBTQ-friendly bishops in the church. Cardinal Tobin needs to know that Catholics and other Christians across the country are watching -- and that we're counting on him to step up for justice once more this Pride Month.
