The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland fired campus minister Keith Kozak after discovering via Facebook that he attended his gay friends’ wedding.
“They sat me down and they said we had seen some things on Facebook and Twitter and that would like to talk to you about that,” Kozak said. “The very next day, I received a letter that said I was terminated.”
Kozak, who is gay himself, said he has “always felt supported” by the church, “until now.” Kozak’s firing runs contrary to the example set by Pope Francis, who has called for an end to discrimination against LGBTQ people.
