On the day Pennsylvania's first-ever Muslim state representative was sworn in, one of her colleagues led the chamber in a prayer calling on everyone to bow before Jesus.
Republican Rep. Stephanie Borowicz began by asking forgiveness for the country for "forgetting" God, and went on to praise President Trump's "unequivocal" support for Israel. In less than two minutes, she mentioned Jesus 13 times.
With the story making national headlines, Pennsylvania GOP leaders need to hear from Christians that hijacking our faith for such hateful purposes is unacceptable. As Muslim representative Movita Johnson-Harrell put it, "to use Jesus as a weapon is not OK."
