When NPR decided this week to cover a legal debate over the adoption rights of same-sex couples, it turned to an anti-gay hate group spokesperson who described his position as "the view of most orthodox Christians."
Peter Sprigg, a senior fellow at the Family Research Council, has said he wants to criminalize homosexuality and that "the most effective way of reducing teen suicide attempts is to discourage teens from self-identifying as gay."
NPR didn't tell their listeners about Sprigg's history of hateful rhetoric, nor did they mention that the Family Research Council has been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. The host also didn't challenge Sprigg's claim that condemning LGBT people is Christianity's "well-established doctrine."
