Kelly Gissendaner was scheduled to be executed last night, but her execution was postponed at the last minute, due to a possible problem with the lethal injection drugs.
In 1998, Kelly was sentenced to death for her role in planning the brutal murder of her husband. In the years since, Kelly has been transformed.
She's accepted responsibility for her crime and become an avid student of theology, corresponding with some of the world's leading Christian theologians and serving as a spiritual leader for her fellow inmates.
In supporting her petition for clemency, one correctional officer wrote, "Her witness has been an amazing beacon in a very dark place. The kindness and witness she shares with inmates in lockdown has a positive ripple effect."
Religious leaders from Georgia and across the world are joining in a last-minute appeal to spare her life. With this latest delay, we've got one more chance to make our voices heard.
