Donald Trump's hatred of immigrants isn't just spiteful: It's deadly. Hundreds of COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in ICE detention centers, yet the administration has released only a handful of immigrants -- leaving approximately 30,000 in danger.
At one Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Louisiana, according to USA TODAY, guards aren't wearing masks or gloves and there are only five bars of soap for 70 detainees to share.
"We are terrified of dying. If people who have the ability to go to the doctor are dying, what's going to happen to us in here?" asked detainee Gretchen Romero.
Thankfully, a diverse coalition of Christians -- including the National Association of Evangelicals; the ELCA Lutheran denomination; Dominican, Franciscan, Jesuit, and other Catholic leaders; and many more -- is calling for the release of detained immigrants.
