Tell federal officialsNo border wall on church property

Posted: Nov. 6, 2018

The Trump administration is attempting to seize property from a Catholic Diocese in Texas to build Trump’s border wall - and the local bishop is fighting back.

Brownsville Bishop Daniel Flores says church property should not be used for a border wall - that it “would limit freedom of the church to exercise her mission in the Rio Grande Valley.” But he is worried they won’t be able to stop federal officials who have now filed in court to obtain rights to survey the property for eventual border wall construction.

Unlike many right-wing appeals to religious liberty, this is a genuine threat to the church’s ability to live out its mission. By standing with Bishop Flores and rallying Catholics and other Christians from across the nation, we can stop this effort to take church property for Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda.
