Tell CongressCutting food stamps isn't Christian

Posted: March 13, 2015

In the last campaign season, Republicans didn't hesitate to tell voters how Christian they are. But this week, they're proposing a new budget that would attack the "least of these" by cutting food stamps.

Leading the charge is Representative Mike Conaway, the new chair of the House Agriculture Committee. Conway has an entire section of his website devoted to touting his Christian faith and family values, but has said he doesn't believe Jesus' commandment to feed the hungry applies to the U.S. government.

Congress needs to hear immediately that taking away food from hungry families is immoral and profoundly unchristian. That's why we're teaming up with our friends at CREDO Action to demand that Congress save food stamps.
