Stand with Sisters Against Fracking

Posted: Aug. 20, 2013

The fracking industry messed with the wrong nuns. After poisoning drinking water and increasing earthquake risk throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, now they want to build a dangerous pipeline through the heart of Kentucky.

The original pipeline route would've gone through hundreds of acres of historic farmland that an order of nuns have lived on for nearly 200 years. But after the Sisters of Loretto refused to let surveyors on their land, the pipeline company had to change their plans.

But the sisters aren't going away quietly. The pipeline would still be a dangerous accident waiting to happen, threatening homes and drinking water in as many as 16 counties. And it would still go through the lands of the oldest operating monastery in America, the famed Abbey of Gethsemani.

So next the nuns are taking the fight to the governor of Kentucky. Next week they'll be delivering a petition signed by over 20,000 Faithful America members directly to his office -- can you add your name?
